EUROPE/SPAIN - "With the children of America ... we speak of Jesus": Sunday 22 Day of Missionary Childhood

Tuesday, 17 January 2012

Madrid (Agenzia Fides) - With the slogan "With the children of America ... we speak of Jesus", the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of Spain are organizing the National Day of Missionary Childhood which will be held on Sunday, January 22. This is the fourth stage of a route that children in Spain are making from year to year and that has its climax in Mission Sunday.
In the material sent to Fides from Spain's National Directorate of the PMS, it is stressed that America is not any kind of continent for Spanish children, it is the nearest continent for everyone for several reasons: history, family, emigration. Many children live with the children of immigrants in Spain and therefore know a very different reality compared to their own country or city.
The theme for this year, "With the children of America ... we speak of Jesus", especially invites those who have had the privilege to meet Jesus to share discipleship, as the Gospel teaches, once you know the Lord, go and announce it to others.
Here is the reason why a missionary leaves his/her land, his own country, because he wants to tell others the experience he lived with Jesus. The Missionary Childhood child is a "missionary" because he/her tells others his friendship with Jesus .
These are the reasons with which the PMS of Spain invite to celebrate the Day of Missionary Childhood, taking advantage of the abundant material prepared, noting that although "children helping children" it is the adult involved in the whole country to have the commitment to create this atmosphere full of missionary enthusiasm, just as Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus did at the age of 9 (CE) (Agenzia Fides 17/01/2012)
