AMERICA/BOLIVIA - Course for lay missionaries: to deepen the sense of parish missionary

Friday, 2 December 2011

Cochabamba (Agenzia Fides) - The Second Course for lay missionaries held in the Archdiocese of Cochabamba has just concluded with success and optimism. The coordinator of the activities of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Bolivia, Sr. Chile Rojas, made an assessment of the event and sent a note to Fides on the results of life and commitment on behalf of each participant attending the course.
Sister Chilean writes: "I perceived enthusiasm, willingness to learn in the lay people, especially the desire to socialize and share their respective jurisdictions that they received.
The themes developed meet a process that began in the first Course for the laity. The continuity is to strengthen and enrich their education, so that the laity thus prepared, can continue to communicate the Word of God, to deepen the sense of a parish missionary, so that the Church is fulfilled in its visible face, which is the local community, and this is where it has to work hard".
The parish is the place that helps brothers to do more, this is why the sense of commitment to the parish, helping to understand everyone’s role was underlined: the priest, the lay, the Bishop, religious. In addition, the sister continues, "we had the opportunity to deepen the popular piety as a manifestation of faith, which must be considered for its value and for evangelization".
"We must also recognize the concerns expressed by the laity, in their experiences on the path of the Permanent Mission that is experienced in their respective jurisdictions. The path shows that all we are doing something, albeit at different rates - said Sister Chileans - and so we continue to go on. One has to also stress the experience lived in these days during the Course with the brothers from different places and cultures, who were able to share faith and the joy of being disciples and missionaries". The Course for lay missionaries was held November from 25 to 27. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 02/12/2011)
