AMERICA/PERU - Clergy and Consecrated Life "Witnesses of Christ in communion": III National Missionary Congress

Thursday, 17 November 2011

Lima (Agenzia Fides) - On Sunday, the Solemnity of Christ the King, the diocese of Callao, the Episcopal Commission for the Clergy and the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of Peru officially convene the Third National Missionary Congress of the clergy and consecrated life. Priests, seminarians, men and women religious, aspiring to religious life and secular movements will be invited to this Congress. It will be a moment of grace for the Church in Peru, because its purpose is to renew a personal encounter with the Risen One and strengthen the identity of the consecrated to the service of the Kingdom through the witness of life. It will also be an opportunity to strengthen the ecclesial communion and to a deeper awareness of the missionary dimension of the Church, as required by the Fifth Assembly of the Episcopal Conference of Latin America and the Caribbean: "The pastoral conversion of our communities requires a shift from a pastoral preservation to a missionary pastoral. So it is possible that "the only program of the Gospel continues to make history in every ecclesial community" (DA No 370).
According to the note from the National Directorate of the PMS of Peru, sent to Agenzia Fides, which is signed by the national Director, Father Victor Livori mssp, the Congress will be held from 2 to 5 February 2012 at San Jose Sports Centre of the Marist fathers in Callao. This missionary event aims to promote the general missionary dimension of the clergy and members of religious life, to be authentic witnesses and credible proclaimers in today's world. The central theme is "Witnesses and heralds of Christ in communion, so that the world may believe". (CE) (Agenzia Fides 17/11/2011)
