Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - Coordinate all community resources to ensure a solid faith and with regard to the Holy Scripture: is the commitment underlined by the Diocesan Group, Responsible for the Year of the Laity, organized by the Diocese of Hong Kong. According to reports by the Kong Ko Bao (Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), after a thorough investigation, the Group has identified some priority needs for this second period of celebration of the Laity: promote a diocesan co-ordination to answer questions about faith, use modern technology to evangelize, awaken a sense of belonging and responsibility of the young faithful for the Church's life, provide adequate pastoral response to the aging of society and the Catholic community. According to one of the leaders, "a good Bible and faith education without doubt helps the faithful to consolidate Christian identity, therefore, promotes evangelism and the growth of individual basic ecclesial communities". In addition what emerged is that "the spiritual life of today’s faithful is still weak. According to the survey 35% of the people interviewed read the Bible once a week or more and 30% never reads it. Aging also of the diocese causes a fracture in the community of the faithful laity. All this requires commitment to an intense formation". (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 15/11/2011)
