Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - "Strengthen formation for a better evangelization" is the wish expressed by His Exc. Mgr. John Tong, Bishop of Hong Kong, speaking to the priests and faithful of the 7 parishes of the deanery of Kowloon Central during the end of the Evangelization Pilgrimage of the Cross and the assignment of the missionary Mandate, which took place on October 30 at the end of missionary month. According to reports from the Kong Ko Bao (Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin) during the month of October, characterized by the sharing of faith and evangelization among the eight deaneries and with non-Christians, the faithful became increasingly aware of their missionary responsibility to witness the Christian authenticity, and hence the importance of thorough preparation, consisting of formation. According to Mgr.Tong, the Year of the laity announced by the diocese is for this reason. The Bishop explained to those present "What is evangelization, why you have to evangelize and how to evangelize", stressing that addressing these three issues, "we must always invoke the name of the Lord". Father S. Kalisz, former dean of the deanery, confirmed the positive result of the Evangelization Pilgrimage of the Cross, which has begun in the parishes since April, because "not only the faithful have come to realize its mission, but has also allowed the people in the neighborhood to know Jesus Christ.
