Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - During the month of the Rosary, the College of St. Francis Xavier of the Marist Brothers in Hong Kong, has dedicated an exhibition of religious paintings to the Madonna, to allow the students to get to know the excellent example of the Virgin Mary. According to reports from the Kong Ko Bao (Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), the Catholic school has also prepared a "reading of the paintings" to help children learn the principles of the Catholic faith, the figure of the Madonna, St. Francis Xavier, Patron of the College, St. Magdalene of Canossa ... so they can deepen the path of holiness and love for God and one’s neighbor. Moreover, it also explains the technique of sacred painting. Finally, the college encourages students to intensify the prayer of the Rosary in the month dedicated to this devotion, even with the help of sacred art.
The College of St. Francis Xavier was founded by Jesuit missionaries on September 21, 1874 in the diocese of Shanghai. The following year the French Marist Brothers began to take over the management. With the expulsion of the missionaries, in 1950, the College had to close and reopen in Hong Kong in 1995. Students are invited to observe the motto "Suaviter in modo; fortiter in re".
