AMERICA/CHILE - First meeting of national missionary of seminarians, in the light of Aparecida and the Continental Mission

Thursday, 6 October 2011

Santiago (Agenzia Fides) - As part of the celebrations for the missionary month of October, from 6 to 9 October, at the Major Seminary "Christ the King" of Rancagua, the first meeting of the National Missionary of Seminarians (1 Missionary ESECH) will be held, on the theme of World Mission Day: "As the Father has sent me, so I send you". In the note sent to Fides by the National Directorate of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of Chile it is stated that this first Meeting of the seminarians, organized by the PMS in coordination with the Major Seminary of Rancagua, will bring together representatives of all the diocesan seminaries in the country with the aim to pass on to future priests the beauty of "missionary zeal", following the invitation of the Holy Father to make the missionary dimension in all the activities of the universal Church present.
The four-day meeting, formation and sharing of seminarians, will be enlightened by the event of Aparecida and the path of Continental Mission which is taking place. The Aparecida Document states that: "The seminar will provide a serious and profound intellectual training in the field of philosophy, human sciences and, above all, theology and missiology, so that the future priest learns to proclaim faith in its integrity, faithful to the Magisterium of the Church, with critical attention to the cultural context of our times and the main currents of thought and behavior that must be evangelized" (DA 323).
