Shi Jia Zhuang (Agenzia Fides) - Do not make distinctions of religious denomination, to work for humanitarian reasons, to bring the love of Catholics: these are the characteristics that distinguish Catholic aid and relief to those affected by natural disasters. Once again, in fact, the Catholic volunteers guided by the Catholic charity Jinde Charities are at the forefront to help people affected by the flood in recent weeks. According to information on behalf of Jinde Charities, until September 28 the charitable organization had brought rice, cooking oil, blankets and sugar, for a total of 110,000 yuan (about 14,000 euros) to 420 families, for a total of more than two thousand people, in a village in the province of Si Chuan completely flooded. On September 25, Jinde Charities brought 80 tons of rice to 3,530 families in three villages, a total of about 120,000 people, in two districts of Yi Yang, in the province of Hu Nan. The secretary of the Communist Party section of one of the three villages said: "you are so timely, you have guaranteed us food for a month in such a difficult moment. We will be grateful for life". During a visit to the flooded areas, the Catholic volunteers discovered that the inhabitants of a village had great difficulty to access drinking water. So they immediately decided to allocate 200 thousand yuan (about 24 000 euros) to solve the problem, giving 327 families (1,460 farmers) the possibility to have drinking water. Other Catholic organizations like the Center for Social Service of the Diocese of Xi An, are helping the people who suffered the consequences of flooding. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 29/09/2011)
