ASIA/HONG KONG - Laity, witnesses of faith in different areas of commitment

Monday, 26 September 2011

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - Witnessing faith and to be "signs" of faith through commitment on behalf of the laity (extraordinary ministers of communion, pastoral workers, catechists ...); to analyze the biblical, liturgical and social dimension of such commitment to sanctify oneself and others: these were the objectives of the Meeting for the exchange of the commitment of the laity, organized in recent days by the Catholic Association of the Laity of the Diocese of Hong Kong. According to reports from the Kong Ko Bao (the Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), about 120 laity attended, members of the Association. During the day ample space was dedicated to sharing experiences, so different members of the Association took the word to give testimony of their commitment. Among their impressions: "being an extraordinary minister allows me to be a bridge between the parish and the faithful who receive Communion"; "the commitment of being a catechist made me grow in faith together with the catechumens to find Christ"... Father Joseph Yim Tak Lung, a diocesan priest in Hong Kong, presented a report on the commitment of the laity, encouraging the Association to "completely commit themselves" to "be a witness and a sign of Christ".
