Thursday, 25 August 2011

Bogota (Agenzia Fides) - Members of the Permanent Secretariat of Bishops in Colombia met on August 22 for a training day on the Continental Mission. During this meeting the sense of mission and meaning of the symbols that go with it were recalled. Father Oscar Munera, Director of the National Missionary Commission of the Episcopal Conference of Colombia, said that the Continental Mission in Colombia is being carried out successfully. The priest explained that although in some ecclesiastical jurisdictions the period of "sensitization" dedicated to becoming aware of the Mission is still being experienced, even this phase is lived "with joy and enthusiasm".
According to information received by Fides, father Munera underlined that in other dioceses of Colombia the phase of the missionary formation for pastoral workers is already being carried out, and said that for this purpose, up to now, 14 leaflets have been prepared to guide the pastoral formation for the mission. The priest concluded by saying that the results achieved so far are due to the commitment of the Bishops, their vicars, priests and the pastoral delegates, who are asked to continue to promote the Continental Mission in Colombia.
