AMERICA/ARGENTINA-The Argentinian PMS help to re-build the seminaries of Haiti

Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) - The International Secretary of the Pontifical Society of St. Peter the Apostle (SSPA), Mgr. Jan Dumon, sent a letter to Father Osvaldo Leone, Director of the Pontifical Missionary Societies (PMS) of Argentina to thank him for the contributions made to this Society in 2010 from Argentina. According to a note sent to Fides which says, for the second consecutive year, that the PMS in Argentina sent U.S. $ 4,108, for the reconstruction and livelihood of future priests of the "Notre Dame" Seminary in Puerto Principe, and the preparatory Seminary "St. Paul " of Hinche in Haiti.
The Rector of the last seminary, Fr. Guy Boucicaut and the President of the Episcopal Conference of Haiti Mgr. Louis Kebreau, thanked Mgr. Dumon for the financial support offered to 270 seminarians.
In Argentina, the collection of funds for the Society of St. Peter the Apostle is constantly growing, thanks to effective promotion and animation. The contribution on behalf of Argentina in 2007 increased from U.S. $ 1,250 in 2007 to 13.503.50 dollars in 2008. In 2009, 18.730.00 dollars and in 2010, 20.415.00 dollars were collected.
The note concludes by expressing the desire of the PMS to increase this Work of God in Argentina and worldwide, to be able to assist in every corner of the earth priests and religious. The Pontifical Society of St. Peter the Apostle has as its purpose the spiritual and material support of the local clergy, by raising awareness among the Christian people about the importance of priestly and religious vocations in the young Churches. The Society offers scholarships to seminarians and aid to seminars and formation centers.
