Arequipa (Agenzia Fides) - After ten months of uninterrupted work, on Tuesday, July 19 at 11:30am the first phase of the "Centre for Studies and integral human development (CSIHD) - New Arequipa" will begin, an initiative carried out by Mgr. Javier Del Rio Alba, Archbishop of Arequipa, to provide an integral human formation and allow young people and mothers of the Northern Cone of the city to work, especially those who find themselves in precarious situations, and in need. According to what the communications office of the Archdiocese tells Fides, the CSIHD is located in Ciudad de Dios, the lower area of the Yura district, where the regional government gave the Archdiocese of Arequipa the use of 20 hectares of land to develop this project for integral human development. The opening ceremony will be presided by the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Bruno Musarò, and will be attended by the President of the Arequipa region, the Archbishop of Arequipa and the Mayor of the Yura district. Other authorities will also participate, members of the Church, entrepreneurs, representatives of institutions and citizens that have worked together in that neighborhood.
The realization of this first phase of the project was charged to the Office of infrastructure projects of the Archdiocese of Arequipa and includes three classrooms, workshop, administrative offices, a staff room, canteen, toilet and courtyard. The economic contribution for the construction was offered by several Spanish and local realities, in money or jobs.
In its first phase, the CSIHD will offer courses in Computer Science, Graphic Design, Cosmetology, Gas Network Installation and the like. In the second phase of the CSIHD, already underway, will see the construction of the Technological High School Institute "Nueva Arequipa", which initially will have three training courses: for electrical systems at medium and low voltage, for the administrative job, and a cooking school with professional equipment and laboratories.
The CSIHD aims to give young people and mothers the professional qualification with the support of local businesses that are not only involved in financing the project, but will also provide their technicians and professionals such as teachers and give students the opportunity to do internships in their businesses and work there after completing the training. The project also includes integral human, family and community training activities, as well as interventions in health care, micro-credit and other measures to promote integral human development of the inhabitants of the North Cone of Arequipa.
