Beijing (Agenzia Fides) – The Diocese of Beijing will celebrate a special year, dedicated to promoting the formation and commitment of the laity in evangelisation – the Year for Evangelisation by the Laity – from 9 April 2011 to 8 April 2012. According to a statement from the Diocese of Beijing sent to Fides, “to encourage a greater participation by the laity in the missiona of the Church, the Diocese of Beijing is beginning formation for catechists in all its parishes and has invoked this special year. On 9 April, there will be an opening Mass for the year, celebrated by Bishop Giuseppe Lin Shan of Beijing, in the parish of Nantang (of the Immaculate Conception). Bishop Giuseppe Li highlighted that “this choice by the diocese is a response to the Holy Father's call to evangelisation by the laity, the duty and mission of every baptised person.” (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 06/04/2011)
