New York (Agenzia Fides) - Armed conflicts constitute one of the main obstacles to education. This emerged from Global Report on Education for all entitled: “The hidden crisis: armed conflict and education” just released by UNESCO in New York and in Senegal. Of 67 million school-aged children, 28 million, more than 40%, don't attend lessons and live in poor countries affected by armed conflicts. From 1999 and 2008, 35 countries have been involved in armed conflicts which have had as main targets children, schools and teachers. (AP) (1/3/2011)
