ASIA/CHINA - Diocese of Jin Nan holds retreat on the mission of Pastors and care for the sick

Ji Nan (Agenzia Fides) – The mission of Pastors and care for the sick were the two main themes of the retreat of the Diocese of Ji Nan, in the Shan Dong Province, which was held September 1-3. According to information received by Fides, the diocese invited Fr. Abraham Chiu, OFM, an expert on spirituality and Scripture (especially the Gospel of St. John) to speak to the priests, deacons, and religious, in the presence of the diocesan bishop, on the duties of pastors to the flock entrusted to them, the role of pastors, pastoral care, and attention to the sick...
The Archdiocese of Tsinan (Jinan) has more than 60,000 Catholics, 40 priests, almost all of them young in age, and 11 churches and places for worship. The Provincial Major Seminary of St. John the Baptist has about 50 students. The Archdiocese also has a minor seminary and the Diocesan Congregation of Mary Immaculate has 23 religious sisters.
