Bogota (Agenzia Fides) - From today, March 16 until March 18, Bogota is hosting the National Encounter for Pastoral Care of Rural and Earth. The event was organized by the National Secretariat of Social Pastoral (SNPS) and Caritas Colombia to encourage debate and reflection on the scenarios and the challenges posed by rural areas of Colombia. The meeting will be held at the “San Pedro Claver” House of Meetings and is addressed to the leaders of the Diocesan Rural Pastoral Ministry, the peasant leaders and scholars. According to the SNPS and Caritas Colombia, the goal is to realize the choices and commitments of the Colombian Catholic Church on the rural theme, as propose by the LXXV the Plenary Assembly of the Colombian Bishops' Conference. Among the topics on the agenda are: promoting discussion and reflection on the situation, the use and possession of land, recognizing the social function and assessing what impact this will have on the development of rural populations.
