Lima (Agenzia Fides) - “Bioethics in the Culture of Life” will be the theme of the International Convention scheduled for October 5-8 at the Saint Augustine College in Lima. Organized by the Augustinian Province “Nuestra Senora de la Gracia” of Peru, the event is being sponsored by the Apostolic Nunciature, the Archdiocese of Lima, and the Catholic University “Sedes Sapientiae.”
Introducing the sessions on October 5 will be the Apostolic Nuncio in Peru, Archbishop Bruno Musaro. This will be followed by a talk from Dr. Jorge Scala, on “Bio-Rights and the Culture of Life” and Fr. Alberto Bochatey, OSA, member of the Pontifical Academy for Life, on the theme “Morality in the Culture of Life.” During the workshops, there will also be talks from Monica del Rio, on “The political and ideological aspects of anti-life legislation,” Dr. Maria Laura Malespina, on “The lack of bioethical principles to protect the right to life,” and Dr. Julia Elbaba on “Bioethics and the challenges of building a culture of life in the 21st Century.” The Congress will conclude with a Mass presided by Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani, Archbishop of Lima and Primate of Peru, and concelebrated by various Bishops from the country and Superiors of Religious Institutes.
