VATICAN - Study Day organized by the Pontifical Academies, for the Year of St. Paul

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – On the occasion of the Year of St. Paul, the Pontifical Council for Culture and the Pontifical Academies have joined efforts in promoting a Study Day on May 8, focusing on the life and work of St. Paul, enriched by the experience of visiting the sites dedicated to the memory of Paul, present in the complex “San Sebastiano sull’Appia” and by the Mass presided by Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi.
The first part of the Study Day will begin at 9:30am in the Pius X Palace on Via della Conciliazione, 5 (using hospital entrance, 1), with the following program: Opening Address by Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi, President of the Pontifical Council of Culture; talk on “Paul and the Cultures” (R. Penna); talks on “Paul's method, amidst rhetoric and proclamation of the Gospel” (M. Sodi); “Chronological-Marian events in Pauline theological thought” (A. Serra); “Funerary vocation of the Basilica of Saint Paul” (V. Fiocchi Nicolai); “The figure of Paul in the mosaic of Saint Pudenziana” (V. Tiberia). The afternoon session will begin at 4:30 in the Basilica of Saint Sebastian, Via Appia Antica 136, and will be followed by a guided tour of the Catacombs, concluding with a Mass.
