AMERICA/COSTA RICA - Solidarity Campaign 2009: “Aid that Tranforms”

San Jose (Agenzia Fides) – With the theme “Aid that Transforms,” Caritas of Costa Rica is carrying out a solidarity campaign this Lent throughout the country, seeking to gather funds in order to continue working “for the establishment of a society that is increasingly more just, supportive of others, and equal, through the promotion of integral and self-providing human development.” The Campaign 2009 has four main objectives: rebuilding after the earthquake and the other natural disasters; A drug-free life (prevention program in the Dioceses of San Jose, San Isidro de El General, and Limon; Rehabilitation of the San Joseph's House in San Jose and in Alajuela); hostels for those most in need/living on the street and other projects, such as the recycle and recollecting of trash in Liberia, assisting those most in need in response to the economic crisis, and the environmental project for water in Sardinal de Carrillo.
