Kao Hsiung (Agenzia Fides) - “The Miracle of Love” was the theme of the 71st Faith Camp organized by the Chinese Catholic University Students Association of Taiwan, from February 6-11. According to the organizers, the initiative is a way to “recharge our faith” and help youth grow closer to God amidst the chaos of a secularized world. The youth, especially the students, have been able to find peace with themselves, God, and the entire world, witnessing the positive and Christian meaning of life.
According to the site of the Chinese Catholic University Students Association, the group was founded in 1949 by Fr. Fang Hao (1910-1980, historian who converted from Anglicanism to Catholicism) and was originally named “Catholic Association of Teachers and Students.” In 1951, it officially took on the name it bears today. In 1981, it joined the “World Union of Catholic University Students.” Today, it has 31 official branches and 7 in process. Its formators are priests, religious, and laity. Their objective is “to unite Catholic university students in practicing Christian life, valuing the spirit of Love for oneself and others; filling oneself with the Love of Christ in order to evangelize university students, contributing to the progress of the local Catholic Church in China, at the service of the people, improving society.” The students have experiences of spirituality, communion, formation, and participation in social life through the activities of the group.
