EUROPE/ITALY - SALESIAN SISTERS: 1ST SEMINAR ON THEMES EMERGING FROM GENERAL CHAPTER

Friday, 5 December 2003

Rome (Fides Service) – From 2-7 December 33 Salesian Sisters are meeting at the FMA Generalate in Rome to reflect on themes which emerged during the recent general chapter of the Daughters of Mary Auxiliatrix (FMA). Nine similar Seminars will be held early next year in FMA inter-inspectoral conferences in various parts of the world. The present meeting in Rome will seek to identify ways to empower the mission of co-ordination for communion between the general council and the consulents. It will discuss themes that emerged in the FMA 21st General Chapter in 2002: discernment and accompaniment, evangelisation, education in communication, inter-culturality, methods for reflection and experience sharing.
Superior general Mother Antonia Colombo, opening the Seminar spoke of "pedagogy of communion" that is "pedagogy of gestures" which draw strength "from a contemplative vision". This is why during the general Chapter "we reaffirmed: we FMA believe that our life is rooted in the experience of God-Trinity, heard, touched, contemplated in the face of Christ, recognised in the faces of our brothers and sisters welcomed in the history of every day".
