Rome (Agenzia Fides) - The first sister of the Missionaries of Saint Charles Borromeo will take temporal vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience on Monday, March 31, in the presence of the Superior General, Father Paolo Sottopietra and the Bishop of Porto-Santa Rufina, Bishop Gino Reali. The ceremony will take place at midday in the chapel of the House of Formation belonging to the Priestly Fraternity of the Missionaries of Saint Charles Borromeo, founded in 1985 with the charism of Communion and Liberation. The female community, now comprised of six women, was recognized as an Association of Faithful on March 25, 2007. “I unite myself to you in prayer,” Father Julian Carron, President of the Fraternity of Communion and Liberation said on the occasion, “in hopes that the beginning of this new institute be a contribution towards a greater appreciation of the charism of Don Giussani in the entire movement.”
The sister who will take her vows is named Sr. Rachele Paiusco. She is a 27-year-old from Milan (Italy), a university graduate with a degree in Modern Literature, with certification in piano from the Conservatory in Bergamo. She discovered her vocation in the university, where she was introduced to Don Paolo Sottopietra, who is today the Superior General of the Missionaries. “We should give everything to Christ. I wish to do so through a life similar to that of the [male] Missionaries of Saint Charles,” Sister Rachele said. With that desire, the new feminine branch of the Fraternity will be formed, with its base at the parish of Santa Maria del Rosario di Pompei alla Magliana (Rome), having the same rule and missions as the nearly 100 missionary priests of Saint Charles, present in 20 countries throughout the world.
