AFRICA/CAMEROON - The Pope appoints new Auxiliary Bishop of Yaoundé

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI on 30 November appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the archdiocese of Yaoundé (Cameroon) Rev. Christophe Zoa, of the clergy of Yaoundé, until now chancellor of the archdiocese, assigning to him the Titular See of Ilta.
Rev. Christophe Zoa was born on 10 June 1961 in Yaoundé. He studied at the major seminary in Nkolbison, and then at the Catholic University Yaoundé, obtaining a Licentiate in Canon Law. He has also a doctorate in Canon Law from the Catholic Institute in Paris. Ordained a priest on 15 June 1991 for the archdiocese of Yaoundé, he has since ministered as follows: 1991-1992: assistant priest; 1992-2000: parish priest in several parishes; 1994-1997: Studies in Canon Law in Yaoundé; 2001-2005: Studies for his doctorate in Canon Law from the Catholic Institute in Paris.
