AMERICA/COLOMBIA - Red Clamor campaign: Recognizing the dignity of those forced to leave their homelands

Friday, 26 September 2025

Bogota (Agenzia Fides) – "Welcoming, protecting, promoting and integrating" are the four verbs at the heart of the work of "Red Clamor," the Latin American and Caribbean Ecclesial Network for Migration, Displacement, Refugees, and Human Trafficking.

In the context of the 111th World Day of Migrants and Refugees, which this year, at the request of Pope Francis, will be celebrated exceptionally in Rome on October 4 and 5, alongside the Jubilee of Migrants and the Missionary World, the network has launched the digital campaign "Migrants, Missionaries of Hope," calling for recognition of the dignity of those forced to leave their homelands.

"In a world darkened by war and injustice, even when all seems lost, migrants and refugees stand as messengers of hope. Their courage and tenacity bear heroic testimony to a faith that sees beyond what our eyes can see," reads Pope Leo XIV's message for World Day of Migrants and Refugees 2025.

According to Elvy Monzant, executive director of Red Clamor, the campaign will bring together over 400 host organizations, thus reaffirming the Church's commitment to people on the move. The executive director also recalled that migration is a right and that faith requires openness and generosity in service.

The aim of the initiative, in addition to engaging politicians with joint proposals and defending the rights of those forced to leave their homes, is to raise awareness among the public, organizations, and governments about the complexity and magnitude of the migration phenomenon.
