AFRICA/MADAGASCAR - Resignation and appointment of bishop of Farafangana

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Farafangana, Madagascar, presented by Bishop Gaetano Di Pierro, S.C.I.
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop Marcellin Randriamamonjy of Fenoarivo Atsinanana, as bishop of the diocese of Farafangana, Madagascar.
Bishop Marcellin Randriamamonjy was born on 12 April 1963 in Sandrandahy, diocese of Ambositra.
He was ordained a priest on 30 August 1992, and subsequently exercised his pastoral ministry in two districts of the metropolitan archdiocese of Fianarantsoa.
He obtained a licentiate in theology in Ambatoroka, Antananarivo (1996-1998), and a degree in theology from Lyon, France (1998-2000). He served as an educator, lecturer and prefect of the interdiocesan major seminary in Vohitsoa, Fianarantosoa (2001-2003), and rector of the same seminary (2003-2008).
On 10 February 2009 he was appointed as bishop of the diocese of Fenoarivo Atsinanana, receiving episcopal consecration the following 17 May. (EG) (Agenzia Fides, 31/10/2024)
