AFRICA/EQUATORIAL GUINEA - Appointment of the new Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On April 11, 2024, Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, appointed Rev. Father Tarcisio Becoba Tobasi of the clergy of Malabo as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of Equatorial Guinea for a five-year period.
The new Director of the PMS of Equatorial Guinea is 49 years old. As a seminarian he was sent to Rome where he completed his studies at Santa Croce University, and formationa at the Opus Dei colleges. He was ordained a priest on October 9, 2005 (18 years of priesthood). From 2015 to 2017 he studied in Spain. He holds a licentiate in theology and a specialization in Church History. He has held the following positions: Prefect of the Minor Seminary, Chaplain of the College, Parish Priest of the Cathedral of Malabo, Diocesan Bursar, Head of the diocesan library, Promoter of Justice at the Court. He is currently parish priest of San Giovanni Maria Vianney parish and diocesan bursar. (EG) (Agenzia Fides, 29/5/2024)
