Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Samoa-Pago Pago, American Samoa, presented by Bishop Peter Hugh Brown, C.SS.R.
He is succeeded by the Coadjutor Bishop Kolio Etuale.
New bishop of the diocese of Samoa-Pago Pago was born on March 17, 1973 in Lotofaga, Samoa. He received his formation at Mount Angel Seminary, Oregon, (U.S.A.), earning a Baccalaureate in Philosophy and a Master of Divinity. He was ordained a priest on March 29, 2003 for the diocese of Samoa-Pago Pago.
Since his priestly ordination he has held the following positions: Chaplain of the Marist High School in Fa'asao and Rector of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart (2003-2007). Since 2004 he has been Instructor of the Formation Program for Catechists; Diocesan Director of Vocation Ministry; Parish priest of St. Paul's parish in Iliili and Administrator of St. Joseph the Worker in Futiga (2007-2010) and Member of the College of Consultors (2007-2013). Since 2007 he has been Chaplain of St. Theresa Elementary School and since 2008 he has attended courses at the Institute on Matrimonial Tribunal Practice of the Catholic University of America. Since 2009 he has been Judicial Vicar and Diocesan Director for Youth Ministry (2010-2012); Parish priest of the Holy Cross Parish in Leone, American Samoa (2010-2017); Parish priest of St. Peter's Parish and Administrator of St. Joseph the Worker (2010-2021). Since 2021 he has been Chancellor of the Diocese and Rector of the Holy Family Cathedral, Fatu-o-Aiga. On August 4, 2022, the Holy Father Francis appointed him Coadjutor Bishop of the Diocese of Samoa-Pago Pago. (Agenzia Fides, 29/4/2023)
