AMERICA/CAMEROON - New national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies appointed

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 14 March 2006 appointed national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Cameroon for a five year term (2006-2011) Rev. Gaspard Mengata Nka of the clergy of the archdiocese of Yaoundé.
Rev. Gaspard Mengata Nka was born at Zoétélé on 14 February 1970. He was ordained a priest in 2001. He attended high school in Yaounde (1987/1990) and then enrolled at the faculty of science at Yaounde University (1990/92). After a preparatory year (1992/1993) he studied at the Catholic University of Central Africa (1993/1995), and spent a period of pastoral experience at Bonneau Ebolowa college (1995/1996). From 1996 to 2000 he lived at Nkolbisson Major Seminary and studied at the Catholic University of Central Africa, obtaining licentiates in philosophy in (1995) theology (2000).
