ASIA/INDIA - Rector of St. Albert's College Interdiocesan Seminary in Archdiocese of Ranchi appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on June 1, 2009, appointed Joseph Prasad Pinto OFM Cap., as Rector of St. Albert's College Interdiocesan Seminary in the Archdiocese of Ranchi (India).
The new Rector was born on January 30, 1942 in Hosabettu, Moodbidri Mangalore. He was ordained a priest on November 26, 1969 in Hosabettu. He entered the Order of Capuchins in 1959, in Coimbatore. He did his novitiate in 1962-62, in Farangipet, Mangalore, where he also took his first vows. From 1996-1999, he was Provincial Superior of the St. Fidelis Capuchin Province in Lucknow. In 1999, he was Director and Superior of the House of Prayer and Retreat in Sarnath. Since 2008, he has been Counselor of the St. Fidelis Capuchin Province. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 4/11/2009)
