Yaoundé (Agenzia Fides) - A priest of the so-called Gallican "Church" in Cameroon was kidnapped and murdered. Father Olivier Ntsa Ebode was found dead on March 1 in Obala, a municipality in the department of Lékié in the central region of Cameroon.
According to local press reports, some men showed up at his home in the night between February 28 and March 1, claiming that one of their relatives was not well and that she needed his religious services. The priest agreed to get in a car with them to go to the site. On the way he was murdered and then thrown out of the vehicle.
The priest's body was found early in the morning and taken to the Obala mortuary. The news of his death caused great sadness among the faithful of the Catholic Church and the local community, where Father Olivier was known for his commitment to peace and social justice. (L.M.)
