Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On October 13, 2022, Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle appointed Fr. Gabriel Rainusso, of the diocesan clergy of San José de Mayo as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Uruguay for a five-year period (2022-2027).
The new National Director was born on January 24, 1958 and was ordained a priest on August 2, 1998. He holds a licentiate in dogmatic theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University and a doctorate in medicine (1984). Since his ordination he has been Assistant parish priest in different communities, Chaplain at the San José College-Liceo, Delegate for prison pastoral care and councilor at the national level, Delegate for missions, Delegate for vocational pastoral care and Executive Secretary at the national level, diocesan bursar. At the national level he has held courses and seminars on the Aparecida document and on the encyclical Evangelii gaudium. He is currently parish priest of the parish “N.S. del Lujan en Trinidad” (Flores), Vicar General and animator of missionary activities in the diocese. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 29/11/2022)
