Lilongwe (Agenzia Fides) - In view of missionary October and the Sunday dedicated to the missions, the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of Malawi presented two songs last Sunday, one in English and one in the local Chichewa language. The songs were composed and produced by four siblings from the same family, the Mbewe Family and the first performance took place on the national Catholic TV channel - Luntha TV.
The performance of the music is part of the preparations of the National Direction of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Malawi for the World Mission Day on October 23 and the Mission Month of October 2022 in the broader context of the anniversaries of this year (see Fides, 3/5/2022).
Encouraged and supported by the National Direction, the young people who composed the songs used their talents to compose and spread the message of the Jubilee Year and convey its meaning to people in a musical way. The young artists come from the small Christian community of St Clare in the Chigwirizano Squatter region of the Holy Rosary Parish of Likuni in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe and live in a rural setting. The songs were produced and recorded in an amateur home studio. (EG) (Agenzia Fides, 9/8/2022)
