Rome (Agenzia Fides) - On the afternoon of Saturday, March 26, Lviv was also bombarded around 3:30 p.m. Italian time. Some missiles fell just over a kilometer from the monastery of Orione (see Fides, 25/2/2022). The two priests and the cleric who live there let their colleagues in Italy know that they were fine, although they were devastated by what happened. We are all fine", they said in a message. "A lot of fear. The smoke column is still visible. From initial reports, it appears that a fuel depot was bombed. We do not know if there are any casualties. Please continue to pray".
A few days earlier, on March 21, two Orionine priests from the Oradea mission in Romania came to Lviv with a volunteer to bring basic necessities. The Don Orione high school in Oradea collected four tons of food, medicine and hygiene material. Part of this precious cargo of humanitarian aid was unloaded in Lviv. The rest was handed over to Father Roman, a priest friend of the Orionine mission, who runs a refugee collection point in the city center and who is also able to send material to the areas most affected by the bombings. The statement concludes: "The miracle of sharing repeats itself, filling the warehouse of the former orphanage, now transformed into a refuge, where even the children present lend a hand, while having fun reading the writing on each box: milk, pasta, preserves, nappies, medicines, flour, rice...".
