Campina Grande (Agenzia Fides) - The diocese of Campina Grande, in the Brazilian state of Paraiba, inaugurated on Friday March 25th, the Feast of the Annunciation of the Lord, the Propedeutic Seminary "São José". During the Holy Mass on the occasion of the official opening of the premises, the ten young candidates for the priesthood who will attend the seminary were presented and welcomed. According to the diocese, the new building has two floors. On the ground floor are the chapel, the kitchen, the pantry and the cafeteria. Upstairs is the common living room and another 13 rooms, including one for guests. A cistern and a laundry are also to be built on the premises of the seminary. The new seminary dedicated to Saint Joseph was set up in ten months with the support of the Italian Bishops' Conference and the Italian "Opera per la Vocazione Sacerdotale". The construction of the new seminary is part of the initiatives launched in connection with the 75th anniversary of the diocese. "We have waited four years for this day", said Bishop Dulcenio Fontes de Matos of Campina Grande, "and God has heard our prayers. We give thanks to Divine Providence, which determined the time and the way to answer the prayers and desires not only of the bishop, but also of the formators and seminarians".
