Friborg (Agenzia Fides) - Nine new groups in 2021 alone and in total a number more than tripled in six years. These are the numbers of the Star Singers of French Switzerland who on February 2, the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, concluded their action of solidarity with satisfaction. A sign of this vitality is also the participation of one of its delegations in Rome for the New Year's Mass with Pope Francis (see Fides, 4/1/2022). "Contributing to this development is a great joy for me, but also a great challenge - comments to Fides Nadia Brügger, coordinator of the Star Singers of French Switzerland, who has seen the number of groups grow from 14 to 50 since 2016 - In some places we have true 'pioneers' who have launched this activity despite the fact that the context has not always favored them".
Rosa Piccinni, promoter of the Star Singers in the canton of Neuchâtel in 2019, keeps very vivid the memory of her trip to Rome last December, in which she participated with her group, along with other European delegations, in the Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Holy Father on January 1, representing Switzerland.
"There are many moments that I remember with emotion, but seeing the faces of the four children in the group light up made me very happy" - recalls Rosa Piccinni, animator of the St-Aubin-Cortaillod group.
Sevan Pimentel, 14 years old, from Neuchâtel, one of the singers of the group sent to Rome underlines: "I like this idea of helping children who do not have the same opportunities as us, the French-speaking Swiss do not yet know enough about the Star Singers. I hope that soon we will have Star Singers throughout Switzerland". (E.G.) (Agenzia Fides, 5/2/2022)
