Brasilia (Agenzia Fides) - The evangelizing mission of the Church around the world relies largely on the participation of women, who are at the forefront both in work in small communities and in coordinating roles in national and international organizations. Faced with this reality, the next appointment of the series of online meetings "Women on mission" will discuss the theme: "A missiological reflection starting from women", next Thursday, July 8, at 3 pm, on the Youtube channel of the Bishops' Conference Brazilian (CNBB) (see Fides, 8/3/2021). According to the note sent to Fides, this month's meeting has as its protagonist Professor Clelia Peretti, who has a PhD in theology and is a professor at PUC-Paraná, who will address the presence and protagonism of women in theological reflection . Sister Sandra Amado, of the CNBB Commission for missionary action and inter-ecclesial cooperation, stresses that "women are often at the forefront of missionary projects, but their reflection is relegated to the background or does not find significant space. I believe that this is sometimes due to the lack of the expressive presence of women in the academic spheres of reflection". In addition to Sister Sandra Amado, the meeting will also be attended by Victoria Holzbach, communication consultant for the Sul 3 Region of the CNBB and member of the coordination of the Regional Missionary Council. Sister Sandra, inviting women to participate in this debate by bringing their contribution, recalls: "In recent decades, courageous university women have made their contribution to a theology that also reflects the thinking of women, their way of being a missionary Church in the contemporary world.
Probably, the creativity, endurance and persistence, joy and hope of women can offer very valuable reflection for theology mission. We would like to encourage and motivate more women to contribute and participate in the debate, also within the context of the reflection of missiology to better respond to the challenges of the mission for a Church that goes forth".
