St. Paul (Agenzia Fides) - "In this period of the year we are all called to support evangelization with a concrete gesture. So that it can be carried out everywhere, in all our dioceses, but also in those places where it is necessary to support evangelization", said the Archbishop of Sao Paulo, Cardinal Odilo Scherer, in a video message in which he invites to support the campaign "It is time to take care of evangelization" promoted by the Brazilian Church since 1998, for the whole month of November. The highlight of the initiative, which this year is taking place under the motto "For you know the gracious act of our Lord Jesus Christ"(cf. 2 Cor 8: 9) is the collection that will take place on November 21st and 22nd throughout the country on the occasion of the feast of Christ the King. The Cardinal stressed that the campaign was a great opportunity to promote the sustainability of the Church in Brazil.
On November 3, the Brazilian Bishops' Conference (CNBB) started, in the framework of which, until November 22, the contributions of bishops, priests, religious and lay people of the Church will be published, in which they support the campaign and campaign for the mobilization in favor of relief actions and initiatives in the evangelization of the Church in Brazil.
The campaign website - campanhas.cnbb.org.br - provides videos and working materials for social networks and programs for Catholic television and radio stations. Donations can be made during the collection at the services on November 21st and 22nd or online. "In 2020, the way in which collections were carried out was influenced by the Covid-19 pandemic," reads the campaign presentation. "The world has changed, but our mission remains more necessary than ever. The prospects for the coming months and years are not encouraging: an increase in hunger, poverty, unemployment and many other situations are expected that we cannot be indifferent to".
