EUROPE/CROATIA - National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies appointed

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 5 January 2006 appointed National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Croatia for a five year term 2006-2011.Rev. Milan Špehar of the archdiocese of Rijeka, until now Professor at the Theology Faculty in Rijeka,
The new National Director was born at Ogulin on 7 August 1953. He studied philosophy and theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome, in Bonn, Germany and in Innsbruck, Austria. He obtained a licentiate and doctorate (1986) at the Gregorian. He was ordained a priest in 1980. He was parish priest at Rijeka from 1986 to 1989 and from 1991 onwards. From 1987 to 1989 at the School of Theology and the Salesian College in Rijeka. From 1989 to 1991 he was a Trappist novice in Banja Luka and later in Rome. In 1991 he resumed his work of teaching in Rijeka. He taught spirituality, general and religious psychology, eastern and ecumenical theology . In 2000 he was appointed rector of the Rijeka Theology Faculty. Between 1996 and 1999 he was director of Caritas in the diocese of Rijeka. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 9/3/2006 - 14 righe, 203 parole)
