AMERICA/BRAZIL - "The Amazon needs you", real help to the Amazonian peoples

Brasilia (Agenzia Fides) - Almost three months after its launch, the "The Amazon needs you" campaign (See Fides, 19/05/2020) has collected over 700 thousand reais and this week provides a bulletin for the actions carried out so far. The newsletter contains photos and testimonies of the leaders of the dioceses who have received donations, as well as a spreadsheet with the funds sent and which have been converted into food and hygiene materials.
Organized by the pan-Amazonian ecclesial network/REPAM-Brazil and by the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) with the aim of helping the needs of the Amazonian people, the action is the result of the emergency solidarity action of the Church in Brazil " time to take care ", which has led to countless initiatives in this pandemic period, and has the support of the National Conference of Brazilian Bishops, Caritas Brasileira, the Conference of Religious of Brazil and the Marist Province of Central Brazil.
