Abidjan (Agenzia Fides) - "Since the coup d'état in 1999, the post-election crisis of 2011 and the bloody armed rebellion of 2002, the Country continues to chase this priceless gift of God that is peace", says to Agenzia Fides Donald Zagore, Ivorian theologian of the Society for African Missions, recalling how on 15 November the Ivory Coast celebrated the "National Day for Peace".
"The Country, a long African paradise, lost that peace when in the political sphere violence replaced the democratic political debate. One of the main challenges for the Ivory Coast today - continues the missionary - is to work so that future generations, our children, grow and fully develop in peace"
Fr. Zagore points out that "the problem of all the countries of Africa in general is that African politicians, often the main actors of the wars, ensure the future of their children in Europe, in the United States, etc. far from wars, letting the poorest suffer and die. Today, the main challenge for all Ivorians must be to help our children grow in peace. It is of fundamental importance that every Ivorian is aware of the fact that our future generations, our children, grow and live in joy, with less fear, violence, prejudice, hatred and conflicting socio-political situations that jeopardise their future".
"Peace in the name of our children, and for our children, must be the preferential option that nourishes the action and being of an entire people. For peace, for the welfare of our children, no sacrifice should be too much". (DZ/AP) (Agenzia Fides, 22/11/2019)
