ASIA/TAIWAN - Bishop of Kaohsiung resigns, successor appointed

Vatican City (Fides Service) - The Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI on 5 January 2006 accepted the renunciation of the pastoral government of the diocese of Kaohsiung (Taiwan) presented by Cardinal Paul Shan Kuo-shi, S.I., in conformity with canon 401 § 1 of the Code of Canon Law. He is succeeded by Bishop Peter Liu Cheng-chung, Coadjutor of the same diocese. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 9/1/2006, righe 5, parole 70)
