OCEANIA/SOLOMON ISLANDS - Appointment of the Bishop of Auki

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – Today the Holy Father has appointed, Rev. Peter Houhou, currently Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Honiara as Bishop of the diocese of Auki (Solomon Islands).
The new Bishop was born on 10 October 1966 in Marau, on the island of Guadalcanal.
He entered the seminary and completed his studies in philosophy and theology at the Holy Spirit Major Seminary in Bomana (Papua New Guinea). On 3 July 1999 he was ordained a priest, incardinated in the Archdiocese of Honiara.
Since his ordination he has carried out the following roles: 1999-2000: parish Vicar of Ruavatu; 2000-2006: Parish priest of Makina, in Marau; 2006-2015: Parish priest of Visale; since 2011 Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Honiara; since 2015: pastor-administrator of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, as well as Vicar General.
