Mocoa (Agenzia Fides) - Two weeks after the overflow of the two rivers, Sangoyaco and Mulato (see Fides 3/4/2017), the population of Mocoa still lives in a state of emergency: there is no food, water and medical treatment. In such a context, the risk of epidemics is becoming extremely high, as is confirmed by the latest medical bulletin: there have been many outbreaks of hepatitis A and B and cases of dysentery have increased.
In the city it is mandatory to wear masks due to the strong odor of mud and dirt, which has attracted numerous vultures. The mud landslide has not only killed children but also many parents: the orphans are in a not far-off structure. The destiny of many children is not known.
