Melilla (Agenzia Fides) - Harraga is an association involved with the children of the autonomous city of Melilla road. It mainly deals with the medical care and protection of unaccompanied minors (MENA). These children are in search of a better future. They are classified as thieves, criminals and dependent on glue. The phenomenon in Spanish cities is widespread and neglected. According to local authorities there are about 400 MENA’s living on the streets, with only two educators around the city in an attempt to recover them from bars and supermarkets. The association denounces the fact that these little ones are in need of a family, a society able to welcome them and integrate them, a neighborhood to take care of them and work jointly. Criminalizing them is the easiest way out, in Melilla people organize to beat street children in front of the indifferent eyes of society. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 11/05/2016)
