ASIA/INDIA - Appointment of the Auxiliary of Trivandrum of the Latins

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On February 2, 2016 the Holy Father appointed Rev. Christudas Rajappan, Rector of the St. Vincent's Seminary as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Trivandrum of the Latins (India). He was assigned the titular see of Avitta Bibba.
Rev. Christudas Rajappan was born on November 25, 1971, in Adimalathura, Archdiocese of Trivandrum of the Latins. He completed his studies in philosophy and theology at the Papal Seminary in Pune, then earned a Doctorate in Missiology at the Pontifical Urbaniana University, Rome.
He was ordained a priest on November 25, 1998 for the Archdiocese of Trivandrum of the Latins.
Since his ordination, he has served the fo9llowing academic and pastoral roles: 1998-1999: Parish administrator of St. Nicholas Church, Neerody; 1999-2001: Secretary of the Bishop and Chaplain of the Jubilee Memorial Hospital & Catholic Hostel; 2000-2003: Director of KCYM, Trivandrum; 2001-2007: Chaplain of the Catholic Hostel; 2002-2004: Parish priest at St. Magdalene Church, Parthiyoor; 2004-2009: Studies for a Doctorate in Rome; 2010-2013: Spiritual Director and professor at St. Joseph's Pontifical Seminary, Alwaye. Since 2013 he has been rector of St. Vincent's Seminary, Menamkulam, Director of the Board of Clergy & Religious and Parish priest at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Kochuthura.
