ASIA/INDIA - New Rector appointed for Khristo Jyoti Mohavidyaloyo inter-diocesan seminary at Sambalpur

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 17 June 2005 appointed Rector of Khristo Jyoti Mohavidyaloyo inter-diocesan seminary in Sambalpur (India), Rev. Francis Pereira a member of the Divine Word Missionary Society SVD.
The new Rector was born on 13 March 1956 at Kanthavara, diocese of Mangalore. He joined the Society of Divine Word on May 30, 1969 making his first vows in 1979 and his perpetual vows on 12 June 1984. He was ordained a priest on 4 May 1985. Since then he has been assistant priest and parish priest in a number of parishes (1986/88); Youth Director in the SVD province (1988/90); Licentiate in theology in Rome (1990/92). He then returned to India and served in various positions also as a member of the staff at Khristo Jyoti Mohavidyaloyo seminary while obtaining a doctorate in theology at Ranchi (1998/2002), and SVD Vice-provincial.
