AFRICA/CAMEROON - New rector for Paul VI Propeadeutic Interdiocesan Seminary in Nkongsamba

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples on 20 May 2005, appointed Rector of the Paul VI Propaedeutic Interdiocesan Seminary at Nkongsamba (Cameroon) Rev. Benoît Ewane of the clergy of the diocese of Nkongsamba.
The new rector was born in 1964 at Moumekeng. He attended St Andrews Catholic school at Moumekeng (1977/1985) and St Michel minor diocesan seminary in Melong. He studied philosophy at Bonépoupa major seminary (1986/89) and theology at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome (1991/94) obtaining a Licentiate in dogmatic theology. He was ordained a priest on 10 September1994 at Nkongsamba. Since then he has been: assistant priest at Banka-Bafang (1994); prefect of studies at Melong minor seminary (1995); 1996 -1998 studies in Rome; assistant priest at Nkongsamba cathedral (1998/1999); rector of St Jeanne d’Arc College and parish priest at St Thomas de Poola at Nkongsamba (2000/2005); dean of the diocesan council of priests (2002/2005).
