AMERICA/HONDURAS - The Pope appoints new Bishop of Trujillo

Vatican City (Fides) - The Holy Father, Pope John Paul II on 18 March 2005, appointed Bishop of
Trujillo (Honduras) Reverend Father Luis Solé Fa, C.M., parish priest at Mosquitía diocese of Trujillo.
Rev. Luis Solé Fa, C.M., was born in Tarragona (Spain) 23 July 1946. He studied philosophy and theology in Spain. He has a teachers’ degree for primary and secondary schools. He is a member of the Congregation for Mission (Lazzarist Fathers). He was ordained a priest on 29 December 1973. He has been: in Spain: 1974-78: assistant priest Vicar in two parishes in Barcelona; 1978-80: Teacher at Rehabilitation Centre for Minors (Alicante), director of vocations, provincial consultor; in Honduras: 1981-82: assistant priest in the diocese of San Pedro Sula; 1983-90: parish priest S. Pedro Sula; 1991-94: Director "Centro de Capacitación ", S. Pedro Sula; 1995-99: Superior Provincial of Lazzarist Fathers Director of Pastoral diocesan and parish priest, S. Pedro Sula; 2000: parish priest in the diocese of Trujillo;2002.
The diocese of Trujillo, created in 1987, is situated on the north eastern coast of Honduras. It comprises 2 civil departments. It has an area 25.500 sq. km, 280.000 inhabitants, 9 parishes, 17 priests (6 diocesan and 11 religious), 23 women religious of 3 congregations, 7 major seminarians. (S.L.)
