AFRICA/RD CONGO - Appointment of the Bishop of Kole

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 6 May 2015 the Holy Father appointed Rev. Fr. Emery Kibal Mansong'loo, C.P., already former Provincial Superior of the Passionist Fathers in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as Bishop of the Diocese of Kole (Democratic Republic of the Congo).
The new Bishop was born on June 28, 1969 in Kimputu, Diocese of Idiofa. After the end of his primary school (1981) and secondary school (1987), he entered the Congregation of the Passionist Fathers, in Kinshasa in 1988. He studied Philosophy at the St Augustin Institute in Kinshasa (1988-1991) and theology in Tangaza College in Nairobi-Kenya (1992-1997). He was ordained a priest on 2 August 1998 in the parish of Ste Thérèse in Kinshasa.
Since ordination he has served in a number of pastoral and academic roles: 1998-1999: Assistant priest of the Holy Family of Ototo, in the diocese of Tshumbe; 1999-2002: Pastor of the Catholic Mission of LUMBI, Diocese of Kikwit; 2002-2005: Studies for a Licentiate in Liturgy at the Pontifical University of St. Anselm in Rome; 2005-2013: Provincial Superior of the Passionists, for two successive mandates; at the same time, professor of Liturgy at the Saint Augustin University, the Saint Eugene de Maznod Institute and the Inter-novitiate of women's Congregations; 2008-2013: President of ASUMA; 2011-2013: Member of the Board of Directors of the Catholic University of Congo. Since 2013 he has been residing at the Scholasticate of the Institute in Kinshasa. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 07/05/2015)
