Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 12 December 2014 the Holy Father appointed Rev. Fr. Adelio Pasqualotto, C.S.I., current Pro-Vicar of the Apostolic Vicariate of San Miguel de Sucumbios as Apostolic Vicar of Napo (Ecuador). He has been assigned the titular see of Abtugni.
The new Apostolic Vicar was born on April 26, 1950 in Novoledo di Villaverla, Diocese of Vicenza (Italy). He began his formation within the Congregation of St. Joseph. He did three years of pastoral internship in Spain, in Orduna (Vizcaya), before embarking on his theological studies in Viterbo, at the San Pietro Istitute of the PP. Josephites. He was ordained a priest on 11 March 1978.
After his ordination, he has served in a number of pastoral and academic roles: Vice Rector of the Community at the St. Pius X Cologne, in Santa Marinella, Rome; Vocations animator; Animator of the youth pastoral; Pastor and Director of the Community of Rossano (Cosenza). In the period 1991-1997: Pastor of San Jorge Martir, Mexico City; 1997-2008: Pastor of Santa Isabel de Hungria, Hermosillo (Sonora-Mexico); 2000-2006: Provincial Vicar of the Mexican Province of PP. Josephites; 2010-2012: Pastor of San José Obrero, in the Diocese of Aguacalientes (Mexico); 2013: Collaborator in the parishes of Archidona and Loreto, in the Apostolic Vicariate of Napo. Since 2013, Pro-Vicar of the Apostolic Vicariate of San Miguel de Sucumbios. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 12/12/2014)
